SETTING UP A MULTIPLAYER LOBBY

Normally, all of the multiplayer-capable games on this site would require port-forwarding to establish a server that others can connect to. However, with the use of third party tools, you can more easily establish a connection without opening ports on your router, allowing for a local connection over most networks.

Here I will outline how to install and use LogMeIn Hamachi to establish a direct link between systems.

Visit vpn.net (linked above) and click “Download”

Follow the installer instructions, and choose to either ‘install’ or ‘reinstall’, then select ‘Launch Hamachi’

Once open, click the power button in the top left corner

After you’ve turned Hamachi on, you can create a room. Make sure to save the name and password somewhere, as there’s no recovery method.

After you or your friend has created a room/network, you can go to the same menu tab and enter the information to join said network,

Once you’ve both connected to the network, use the IP address next to the power button when prompted to enter an IP in a multiplayer game. If prompted for a port, use ‘7777‘ as this is the default port for my games.
