A gathering-space for the 2020 landscape.

The NYU DIY Multiplayer Space is an NYU sponsored independent study (built by a team of ten students and one faculty member) that aims to recreate the communal aspects of the physical NYU Game Center building in Brooklyn.

The space is designed to be living, and customizable just like the real Game Center. A place to display work, create games, and hang out.

The space has been used as a virtual environment for the NYU Tisch community week, and an exhibition space for the 2020 Game Center Winter Show.

The main server is closed to anyone who isn’t an NYU Game Center student, but you can download the client, enter the IP ‘localhost’ and click ‘Host’ to explore the space with people on your local network. For an simple guide to hosting the server online, see my network tutorial.

I served as a programmer, 3D artist, and toy designer for the space. Specifically I designed, programmed and integrated the voxel construction system, as well as the character customizer, and also built the character model and several minor environmental interactables in the space.
